Sergio George has built a reputation as one of the most visionary producers in Latin music, and his latest release proves why. The Grammy-winning pianist and arranger joins forces with Colombian legend Carlos Vives to present a new interpretation of Fabricando Fantasías, a song immortalized by Tito Nieves and originally penned by Jorge Luis Piloto and Raúl del Sol.

George has shaped the sound of salsa for more than three decades, collaborating with icons like Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and Celia Cruz. His gift has always been to preserve tradition while pushing it into the future. “Fabricando Fantasías” was recorded between Essential Studios in Lima and GML Studios in Bogotá, and co-produced with Carlos Vives and Andrés Leal, the track blends George’s signature piano-driven arrangements with fresh tropical textures, while the production carries a refined but emotional punch.

The song’s theme is as timeless as ever: the aching absence of a loved one, captured in lines like “pero tu imagen donde quiera está presente, no he podido superar perderte” (“but your image is everywhere, I still haven’t been able to get over losing you”). Vives’ unmistakable voice lends the track a heartfelt urgency, conjuring a sense of loss while simultaneously celebrating memory.

The accompanying video, directed by Sergio I. Rodríguez and filmed in Bogotá, captures the chemistry between George and Vives, highlighting their shared passion for storytelling through music. On screen, the collaboration feels both intimate and expansive.

Fabricando Fantasías also sets the stage for George’s upcoming project, The Hits Reimagined, which follows his acclaimed album ATACA SERGIO! Presents: Urban Salsa Sessions. That release marked George’s debut as a lead artist and earned him a nomination at Premios Juventud for Best Tropical Album, with features from Jay Wheeler, Wisin, Ryan Castro, Anthony Ramos, Mike Bahía, and more. The new album expands on the idea of reinterpreting classics while inviting a new generation into the salsa tradition.

This moment of creative resurgence for George comes just days before the highly anticipated ¡ATACA SERGIO! All Stars Concert, set for September 21 at Miami’s Kaseya Center. The event will bring together La India, Gente de Zona, Anthony Ramos, Servando y Florentino, Justin Quiles, Lenny Tavárez, Corazón Serrano, Gian Marco, and many more. An evening already being hailed as one of the landmark gatherings in contemporary Latin music.
