Visionary progressive rock outfit The Mars Volta have unveiled their latest release, “Reina Tormenta / Enlazan Las Tinieblas,” a fiery new single that captures the intensity, unpredictability, and hypnotic energy that have made the band one of the most distinctive forces in modern rock. Released as the group kicks off its North American fall tour, the track offers another glimpse into their forthcoming album, Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business, due November 20.

Recorded during The Mars Volta’s acclaimed 2025 tour, “Reina Tormenta / Enlazan Las Tinieblas” brings the band’s explosive live chemistry to the forefront. Surging synths, relentless percussion, intricate guitar work, and an unmistakable psychedelic edge combine to create a track that feels both immediate and immersive, reflecting the band’s longstanding ability to push progressive and experimental rock into unexpected territory.

More than two decades into their career, Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala continue to lead The Mars Volta with an approach rooted in experimentation, improvisation, and a refusal to remain confined by genre. The new single carries the psychedelic and progressive spirit that has become synonymous with the band’s sound while showcasing the chemistry of its current lineup, featuring Eva Gardner, Marcel Rodríguez-López, Leo Genovese, and Linda-Philomène Tsoungui.

The release also serves as a preview of Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business, the band’s upcoming album, which arrives November 20. The project follows a period of renewed creative momentum for The Mars Volta and gives fans another chapter in the band’s constantly evolving catalog.

The Mars Volta will also return to Mexico in November for performances at Tecate Comuna on November 28 and a headlining show at Pepsi Center WTC in Mexico City on November 29.

“Reina Tormenta / Enlazan Las Tinieblas” is available now across digital streaming platforms, giving fans a taste of the sonic world that awaits on Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business.

The timing of the single coincides with the launch of The Mars Volta’s 2026 North American tour, which begins September 8 at the Majestic Ventura Theater in Ventura, California. The run will take the band through Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Kentucky, including a major September 12 performance at San Antonio’s Alamodome alongside My Chemical Romance, as well as an appearance at Louisville’s Louder Than Life Festival on September 20.
