About three thousand fans of the Sinaloan group, Banda MS, dance and sang their hearts out loud to Regional Mexicano hymns this past March at the Yaamava’ Theater.
The event was a celebration of music and culture, transporting the audience back home with songs like “Cahuates, Pistaches” and “El mechón”, while the signature vocals of Alan Ramírez and Oswaldo “Walo” Silvas echoed the romance and heartbreak with melodies like “Mi mayor anhelo” and “El color de tus ojos”.
For many the genre is not just music, it is a way of life, and that’s what Banda MS brought to the stage, the Mazatlán Carnaval itself to the casino venue. Mid-concert, Walo and Alan performed their top requested songs by fans, which included “Me vas a extrañar” and “Es tuyo mi amor”. The vocalists also stayed after the concert to engage and take selfies with attendees.
Banda MS has been paying tribute to their roots in every detail, with heartfelt interactions with the audience and songs that elevate the role of migrant workers such as “¿Cuáles fronteras?”. They spoke of their love for Mazatlán, innovating the banda legacy with collaborations with rappers like Snoop Dogg, and of becoming ambassadors of the banda culture in the digital age.
The band also honored the genre’s rich legacy by taking the audience on a nostalgic medley of timeless hits like Ramón Ayala’s “Tragos amargos” and Hechizeros’ “El Sonidito”.
Banda MS didn’t just perform; they brought the heart of Sinaloa to Yaamava’, leaving fans with a deeper connection to the rich traditions that make Regional Mexicano music so special.
