From the farmlands of Salinas, California, to some of the most important stages across the U.S. and Mexico, Clave Especial has accomplished in just a few years what many bands take decades to achieve. Formed by cousins Leonardo Lomelí (guitar) and Alejandro Ahumada (vocals), the group found its musical identity during the pandemic, when in 2021 they released their first EP “En Clave, Vol. 1.” That project planted the seeds of a fresh sound, blending the tradition of corridos with urban touches and lyrical introspection that has resonated with millions of listeners.
Fast forward four years, and Clave Especial now boasts over 15 million monthly Spotify listeners and is celebrating a milestone year in 2025. The album not cemented the band as one of the most powerful emerging voices in regional Mexican music.
