Mexico’s eternal idol Pedro Infante finds new life in Las de Infante, a tribute album that gathers a new generation of artists to reinterpret 23 of his most iconic songs. At the heart of the project, the bolero glam duo Daniel, Me Estás Matando delivers a breathtaking version of “Cien Años”, originally recorded by Infante in 1953 and immortalized in the 1954 film Cuidado con el amor.

Known for blending classic romanticism with a contemporary indie sensibility, Daniel Zepeda (vocals) and Iván de la Rioja (guitar) approach “Cien Años” with deep reverence while infusing it with their signature sound. Their rendition stretches just 2 minutes and 37 seconds, yet captures a timeless intimacy: Zepeda’s honeyed voice lingers over the lyrics: “Y si vivo cien años, cien años pienso en ti” , while de la Rioja’s guitar adds modern texture to the bolero’s lush chords. Produced by Juan Pablo Vega, the track is both nostalgic and daring, a bridge between the golden age of Mexican cinema and today’s romantic avant-garde.

On Instagram, the duo shared the story behind the recording:

Their contribution stands out as one of the most emotionally charged pieces on Las de Infante, a Warner Music México release curated with the support of Lupita Infante, granddaughter of the legendary singer. Alongside Daniel, Me Estás Matando, the album features a wide range of voices including Manuel Medrano, Raquel Sofía, Gera Demara, Los Aptos, El David Aguilar, and Andrés Obregón, each reimagining a classic with a fresh, minimalist production style.

More than just a tribute, Las de Infante is part of a broader cultural effort to honor Infante’s legacy as the world approaches the 110th anniversary of his birth in 2027. By inviting today’s artists to reinterpret his repertoire, the project ensures that his music continues to resonate across generations.
