Jesse Baez has cemented himself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Latin R&B. His journey has been defined by a mix of introspection, experimentation, and a genuine connection with his audience. With lyrics like “No me enseñaron a estar sin ti. No sé vivir sin ti,” from his recent single “No Se Vivir,” Baez continues to craft songs that feel deeply personal yet universally relatable. His soft, velvety vocals and moody production style have become hallmarks of a new era in Spanish-language R&B, blending nostalgia with modern edge.
One of his first major collaborations came in 2018 with Mexican pop star Paty Cantú, a partnership that marked his growing influence across Latin music. In 2024, Baez released his third studio album, Henry, a ten-track project that showcased his maturity as both a songwriter and producer. The album was reissued in 2025 with two new songs produced by Colombian beatmaker Dóntia, who also worked on Baez’s latest single, “Desvelado.” The track, a reinterpretation of Bobby Pulido’s Tejano classic, offers a more sensual, instrument-driven take, highlighting Baez’s signature blend of romanticism and soulful restraint. Through “Desvelado,” he pays homage to Latin roots while continuing to redefine what R&B sounds like in Spanish.
JESSE BAEZ R&B MUSIC VISION
Beyond the music, Jesse Baez’s love for Guatemala, the country that raised him, remains at the heart of his artistry. His visuals, social media posts, and music videos often spotlight Guatemalan landscapes, artists, and culture, reflecting the pride he carries for his roots.
That same authenticity will take center stage this Saturday, October 18, when Baez performs in Tijuana at Evolution Club, located between Sixth and Seventh Streets in Zona Centro. The show is part of his “Pienso en Tour 2025,” where he’ll perform tracks from Henry alongside fan favorites that trace his evolution as an artist.

THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18TH YOU’LL BE IN TIJUANA PRESENTING YOUR NEW ALBUM “HENRY”. WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO TAKE AWAY FROM THESE UPCOMING SHOWS?
I always like for people to leave my shows feeling happy or happier. That means I’ve been able to sing a good number of songs, even ones I don’t usually perform, and that they leave saying, “When this artist comes back, I’m seeing him again.” I always tell people I’m a singer, and I’m here for whatever I can do for them. I like when they’ve gotten to hear songs that will accompany them in their everyday life.
YOUR LIVE PERFORMANCES HAVE A VERY REFINED AESTHETIC. HOW DO YOU DECIDE ON THE VISUAL NARRATIVE?
If I have a visual concept and the chance to execute it, I will try to make it a reflection of myself. For example, my dog shows up a lot. I try to incorporate him in many ways, into my logos and administrative materials. I choose the light palette depending on whether I want my shadow to stand out more or the audience to be more visible. But I always add a personal touch to the elements that make up the show.
I ALSO SAW YOU RE-RELEASED YOUR ALBUM HENRY WITH TWO ADDITIONAL SONGS.
I had already worked with Dóntia (Sebastián) on those two additional songs for the album, but they hadn’t been released yet. He’s a producer from Medellín who brings fresh sounds. He also produced my new single, “Desvelado.”
MY FAVORITE SONGS RIGHT NOW ARE “NO SE VIVIR” AND “MI PERSONA FAVORITA” WITH LATIN MAFIA. WHAT FUELS THAT SENSE OF ROMANTICISM YOU BRING TO YOUR MELODIES?
That’s the part that feels least strange for me, it doesn’t feel weird to share that side of myself. With the music I make, even though I touch many emotional themes, I can stay somewhat distant and still feel comfortable singing about them. That’s just how I am. I’m not someone who spends a lot of time around people, but I do love everyone deeply. We’re all loving by nature, and that’s what feels the most real to me.
CAN FANS EXPECT YOU TO KEEP EXPERIMENTING WITH NEW SOUNDS IN FUTURE RELEASES?
Everything I write comes from what I’m feeling in the moment. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of Nelson Ned and José José, music from that era. I’ve become fascinated by how they recorded, how the studios sounded back then, and the aesthetics they used. It’s been inspiring to me to channel that vintage sound in the instruments and vocals, and how they were mixed.
RAPID FIRE MUSICAL NOTES
Favorite song to perform live: “Desvelado”
Favorite instrument and why: The bass — I’ve grown really fond of it lately.
Must-have snack during recording sessions: I’m all about M&Ms and Coke Zero when I’m in the studio.
Dream venue for a concert: House of Blues in Chicago. Being able to perform there feels doable because I used to study nearby and would walk past it all the time — singing there would feel like coming full circle.
Song that reminds you most of your childhood: There’s a song called “El ferrocarril de los Altos.” It has marimba lyrics, and when I heard it, it took me back to a restaurant back home. it’s so natural there to hear live marimba groups. Also, “Lágrimas de Thelma.” I’d love to bring something from those songs to the next generation.
