Sam Boyd, who began her career on the radio nine-years-ago, transitioned into a new role at beloved local music venue Revel Revel

Can you tell us a bit about how Revel Revel came to be?

We are a specialty events space, and we do consecutive music shows under the electronic umbrella with a mix of House, Techno, and Bass; however, we also do private events like wedding receptions, corporate pop up events with full AV and sound, birthday parties.. you name it!”

You’re really open as a venue space, is that right?

We encompass all walks of life, we really want to create novelty and make memories. Although most of our public events are music events, which is what most people see and advertise, we’re also into the private event space.

Speaking of memories, what is the most memorable event you’ve thrown so far?

That’s crazy! There’s been so many. What has really been long-lasting for me is the relationships and connections we’ve been able to make along the way with different types of musicians and artists and the creativity put into the production of the event.

Can you give us an example of the talent that has been showcased?

We just recently had an event with Shlomo, which is hard-hitting techno. We’ve worked with CRSSD Fest and several other artists, but the local showcases are something very ingrained in us and getting involved in that San Diego community a little bit more.

Can you tell me how you came up with the name Revel Revel?

If you look up revel, it’s to enjoy oneself in a lively and noisy way, especially with drinking and dancing. It’s so good, you have to say it twice. We just want to create a vibe for people to revel in happiness.

What is the next event we can look forward to at Revel Revel?

We are super excited to have a wide mix of shows coming your way in August! We are hosting Day MVS XL After parties this weekend, and have a lengthy list of variety we’ll be showcasing. People can check out to see a list of our upcoming events!”
